Los Ancares Route
Los Ancares, is a mountain range in the province of Lugo and was designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 2006. This majestic mountains at a height of 2,000 m. have a magnetic effect from the distance. You approach them with a sense of respect and admiration and once you get there the views are breathtaking specially in winter and fall. If you are of the adventurous type you have to leave your car at the bottom and hike to the top where there are some stone huts you can stay for a very affordable price.

Los Ancares Route Tips
If you want to hike Los Ancares, keep in mind you will have to take provisions with you as the huts are totally isolated and make sure you start your hike in plain daylight or else you may find yourself totally lost in the dark like my brother and his friends, who miscalculated the time it took to hike the trail and found themselves struggling to get to their hut in the middle of the night.

If you are not fond of the snow, Los Ancares is also worth a hike in the fall. There is nothing like hearing the crunching sound of leaves under your feet and feasting your eyes on the beauty of the landscape.

Hope you enjoyed this virtual hike!
Take care!
