Canary Islands Getaway: Sea Poem Aquarium

Canary Islands are known for being the “sunshine” of Europe as they offer mild temperatures and a range of outstanding natural attractions. There’s no wrong season to visit Canary Islands, as its placement closer to Africa gives them an almost ideal climate of perpetual springtime.

Founded in 1478, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, one of the main islands, has an important historical and cultural heritage, an impressive infrastructure of hotels and apartments and its Puerto de La Luz is one of the most important ports in Europe. The Sea Poem Aquarium is one of the best attractions in the city.

It is located alongside the cruise harbor and just a short walk away from the city beach of Las Canteras. There are three different areas in which environments have been recreated with the greatest accuracy possible and are home to the natural ecosystems of hundreds of species.

Take a walk along the suspension bridge to enjoy a unique experience thanks to its movement and have a first row view of the giant freshwater rays among other species.

The Jungle area represents species that inhabit the Amazon River. Discover one of the most vibrant habitats you have ever seen, an explosion of color and shapes.

A typical Mexican Cenote habitat is replicated here. You can find three species of freshwater fish in the lagoon including the Tequila Fish.

In the Deep Ocean area the 360º dome with panoramic view and the largest curved window gives you a cool perspective of the impressive sharks and other species. Even though tickets are not cheap at € 27,50 including a bus ride, this is one of the best aquariums in Europe and it’s worth a visit.
