Loarre Castle is the oldest Romanesque castle and the best preserved in Europe. Built in the XI century in the southern foothills of the Pyrenees in Huesca, the castle dominates the landscape from a cliff at 1070 m. above sea level. The walled enclosure at the castle’s feet, with its 10 semicircular towers, was built in the XIII century.
